Pupdates: June 2022

Dear Lifesaving Friends,

This HOT weather has been absolutely relentless, not only in temperature but from the continuous stream of unwanted kittens and puppies being born in and around our community. I wrote an "I’m Scared" blog back in April about the number of puppies entering the municipal shelter, and it remains to be the same situation...two months later. My team is doing everything in its power to give these animals a fighting chance but there are many obstacles this year.

Pupdates: May 2022

Dear Lifesaving Friends,

April was raining puppies, and sadly it has not slowed down! There are many puppies that continue to enter our municipal shelter, and whose lives are at risk. San Antonio Pets Alive!'s locations and committed fosters have their hands full with puppies. I humbly ask that you please continue to help us spread the word about our urgent need for fosters and consider becoming a foster yourself.

Pupdates: March 2022

Dear Lifesaving Friends,

March came and went in the blink of an eye! It was an extremely busy month. We continue to have a higher number of intakes compared to the past four years. So far this year, we saved 1,241 animals, a 20% increase in dog and cat intakes compared to last year. My team and our foster volunteers and rescue partners are changing the world for so many animals that don’t have anyone but us.

This is our highest February intake in the past four years. At-risk animals continue entering the city shelter, and we continue to plea dogs to rescue partners and recruit new fosters as we are full at our locations.

The San Antonio Pets Alive! team works hard to care for dogs and cats that are desperately looking for a family. We can’t do our work alone. It takes a village! And, we rely on the help from citizens in San Antonio to help. Organizationally, we have a philosophy that individuals in the community that are willing to open their home and provide financial resources to help abandoned dogs and cats should be rewarded and celebrated.
