Sandy's journey has been a rough one. Adopted as a puppy, she found herself back at the city shelter for reasons unaware to us. Thankfully, San Antonio Pets Alive!’s lifesaving team swooped in again to bring her back into our care, and provide her with the love and attention she deserves. 

While evaluating Sandy, our medical team discovered—a bruised abdomen, puncture wounds between her hind paw pads, an infected abscess, and a severely injured tail. Concerned, the medical team kept a close eye on Sandy, who despite her injuries, was a dream of a patient. 

A few days passed and unfortunately, the bottom third of Sandy’s tail detached, exposing bone and causing unimaginable pain. Our team acted swiftly, administering pain medication to alleviate her suffering, and Sandy underwent emergency amputation surgery to remove the rest of the dead tissue from her tail. Throughout this challenging ordeal, our sweet Sandy has shown remarkable resilience and strength. 

Today, we are relieved to share that Sandy has recovered wonderfully from her surgery. She is now on a path to physical and emotional healing, patiently awaiting the day she can find her forever family. However, the financial burden of Sandy's extensive medical care weighs heavily on our organization.
