Pupdates

Dear Lifesaving Friends,

As Thanksgiving approaches, my team and I would like to express our deepest gratitude for you. We are extremely thankful for every person who supports our lifesaving mission. To our donors who help to sustain our organization, our foster families that open their homes to our animals, our volunteers that love on our animals, and our adopters who rescue a new furry family member, thank you! This work isn’t possible without your financial help, commitment and support!

Our adoptions have slowed down which is typical during this time of year. To help find our pups wonderful families of their own and to open up kennel space, we are currently having a Doorbuster adoption special! We have wonderful animals in our care that would love to have a warm and loving home and family this holiday season.

Lastly, Giving Tuesday is right around the corner on November 29. Our donations this November have been slow, and we would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word about our lifesaving organization to family and friends and encouraging them to give on this special day. We need all the help we can get! With the city municipal shelter taking in fewer dogs and cats, these vulnerable pups are roaming the streets and getting hurt. The city shelter is picking up injured animals, and they are coming into our care with extreme medical needs.

Every dollar, every new foster, and every adoption helps us greatly! Thank you for advocating for our work and our animals!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and, your loved ones, human and furry!

Warm Regards,

Paws for Celebration

It was wonderful to be together in person as we celebrated SAPA!’s lifesaving fosters and our amazing sponsors and supporters! Together, we raised more than $70,000 at our Paws for Celebration, for the homeless dogs and cats who need it most. The weather couldn’t have been better, and guests enjoyed holding some of our adorable puppies and kittens and browsing our silent auction before sitting down for lunch and the presentation.

A special thank you to our presenting sponsor, Thomas J. Henry, our animal angel sponsors, The PM Group and DrYoungForever, our media partner, Kens5, and our sponsors and attendees.

Happy Tails Herbi!

Herbi was adopted earlier this week during SAPA!'s Black Friday Doorbuster Adoption Special!

Herbi was on the city shelter's euthanasia list on September 3rd. She was brought into our care with a possible fracture on her right front leg. Her leg was placed in a cast, and X-rays were done at the animal hospital for further examination. Our medical team kept a close eye on Herbi and ensured that she was healing properly. After lots of tender love, care, and proper medical treatment the veterinarian cleared Herbi and said that the fractures healed nicely!

We are so happy to have not only saved this precious life from euthanasia, provide her with medical care, but ultimately help her find her forever family!

Kennel Sponsorship Highlight

One of our wonderful donors, Michelle, recently sponsored a kennel for her friend's father who passed away. Dana was extremely touched by this gift in memory of her father, and she visited our clinic back in September with her family. They met Shiloh who was staying in the sponsored kennel at the time. Dana wanted to pay it forward and help this sweet boy. They sponsored his adoption fee in addition to another beautiful pup in our care, Mandy.

We are happy to share the Shiloh was adopted in the end of September and the sponsored kennel has been a temporary home for three more of our pups. Mandy is now with a foster family and still searching for a wonderful family to call her own.

Honor someone special in your life this holiday season by being a kennel sponsor! Email Alexis at alexis.moorer@sanantoniopetsalive.org for more information.

Foster of the Month - Sheryl Johnson

Every great foster program depends on its reliable, dedicated,  and amazing fosters that are always there when our team is struggling. To our team, that is Sheryl. Sheryl is a foster that our team knows we can consistently count on, and she always shows up when we need her most. She is truly unwavering in her caring demeanor and dives in head first to every foster adventure we throw at her.

She is courteous, appreciative, and understanding even through her toughest foster cases, and we truly appreciate everything she does for us. She has been our last-minute call for countless kittens and puppies, and if it wasn't for her, so many precious lives could have been lost. From tiny day-old kittens to crazy little puppies, Sheryl is there for it all, and she just wants to save lives.

She also helps us with many lifesaving transports from location to location, she has even transported cats and dogs to Austin!

We are truly blessed to have amazing fosters like Sheryl!

Volunteer of the Month - Paul Fuhrmann

Paul joined our volunteer team in September of 2022 and has continuously had a priceless impact on many furry lives! Paul is the friendly face you spot at SAPA! events and can always count on stepping up and assisting with transport. In the short time he has been volunteering, Paul has helped with transporting 22 dogs, half of which were emergency transports!

On behalf of everyone you have helped, thank you Paul for making the world a better place for our furry friends.

Long Stay Animals

San Antonio Pets Alive! has many cats and dogs that have been with us for more than 200 days. We have launched our "Forget Me Not" campaign highlighting our long-stay animals to help find them their forever family.

Jax is a loving one-year-old boy. He is searching for a home with a nice yard to run around in and a four-legged friend to play with would be a plus. He currently lives with three cats and loves to go for car rides. Jax is a very happy dog and loves to sleep in bed with his people.

Five got his name because his foster taught him to give her high fives! Five's purr is very distinct and sounds super cute. This seven-month-old boy loves to play and is very smart!
