In honor of November being “Adopt a Senior Pet” month, we have reasons why older pets are THE BEST.
There are so many different aspects to consider when it comes to adopting your new furry family member: size, gender, breed, age…Many older dogs and cats in the shelters find themselves waiting a long time for their forever families. Puppies and kittens are typically adopted at higher rates than adult or senior pets. Older pets are so special and make great family pets!
There are many benefits of adopting an older pet:
- They require little to no training. Older pets are typically less destructive and are often housebroken, making it easy to adapt to your home.
- Older pets are calmer and less energetic than younger dogs. They have established a demeanor and temperament, which will give you an instant idea of how he/she will fit into your household.
- Older pets make great companions. They make a great walking buddy or snuggle buddy!
- They have manners.
- You can be a hero to a deserving dog or cat. Doing a good thing really does make you feel good!
