The first annual Alamo City “Paw” dopt-a-thon, San Antonio’s biggest adoption event yet took place Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14th hosted by four local rescue organizations.This very special event was organized by local business owner, Katy Bryant, owner of Laser Printers and a long time activist for San Antonio’s homeless pets and a volunteer team leader for SAPA! Ms. Bryant brought four animal rescue organizations together who found homes for 386 beautiful cats and dogs. Katy has worked tirelessly for years to rescue homeless pets!

SAPA! would also like to thank and congratulate the wonderful families and individuals for stepping up for our homeless pets this past weekend and all year long. We couldn’t do any of this without the help of the generous people of San Antonio. We rely on volunteers, adopters, fosters and donations to save so many lives. Thank you for taking action to help our homeless pets.

October is Adopt a Shelter Pet Month.  Please keep spreading the word to continue this great work!

SAPA! has saved over 5100 adoptable cats and dogs from euthanasia since January 2012. 17,000 pets were euthanized in 2011 (ACS) with only a 30% release rate compared to 60% in 2012. We are the last hope for many of our area homeless animals. We save stray and surrendered pets from Euthanasia by Injection (EBI) after the public and other rescue organizations fill up and have to pass on them- we are literally their last chance.
