Chupacabra Half-Price Adoption Special! Now through Sunday, November 4th, save a life by adopting a chupacabra for half the normal adoption fee! This reduced fee applies to any dog with hair loss – dermatitis ringworm, mange (oh my!). Puppies are $25, Dogs over four months are $17.50 and all cats are $15. San Antonio Pets Alive’s mission includes trying to save all treatable dogs – that includes dogs with very treatable mange. Sure, mange is ugly and may give you the creeps, but mange is treatable, containable, and NO reason for a pup or kitty to be killed – yet thousands are every single year. Same for ringworm! Most public shelters euthanize ALL animals that come in with mange (or minor injuries, illness, or ringworm!) and many rescues won’t take in pets with mange. But why not – mange is very treatable and only affects the animals who have weak immune systems which are puppies or severely neglected/malnourished dogs?
